Spoon theory
Spoon theory is meant to help you allocate your energy (your spoons) to your daily tasks, and it is also an easy way to explain chronic fatigue and its effect on your life to your family and friends. The theory was created by Christine Miserandino, a lupus patient, writer, blogger and activist in various lupus organisations.
The theory is explained like this: every person in the world has a certain supply of spoons available until the end of the day. Getting out of bed in the morning? That may cost one spoon. Brushing your teeth? Another spoon. Making breakfast? That will be a few more. Healthy people seem to have more spoons than someone who has an illness.
Just try to work out how many spoons you have and give it a go; if it’s too much, reduce the number and try again until it feels right.
